My Australia adventure starts when I meet Andrew Turnbull in Bali where he started 3 young quarter horses together with Steve Halfpenny. In May I decide to move to Australia and Maike & Andrew welcomed me in their home. Shortly after my arrival I find myself in a truck with the gooseneck and 2 horses in the back driving up to Geraldton for a clinic with Jeff Sanders. Im amazed by the nature, people and Andrew and his horses. Meeting Jeff Sanders and be able to watch him teach for days is very exciting. Especially after some time in Bali where there is not a lot of training and knowledge available.

This is only the beginning of a tornado of knowledge, passion, kangaroo’s, cows and lots of ponies. Andrew and his wife Maike Turnbull are always on the lookout for new knowledge, learning and taking the people around them with them in this journey. And an amazing couple months are following. I get the change to ride and spend time with Rodrigo Matos and Manolo Mendez. Attend a 3 day horse dissection with Sharon May Davis. And Hours and hours of observing Andrew working horses.

Outback Adventures

Im amazed by the nature, people and Andrew and his horses. Meeting Jeff Sanders and be able to watch him teach for days is very exciting. .

Cowboy Culture

In my 6 months in Australia, in fell in love with their nature, and the cowboy culture. It’s paradise for horses. Endless pastures. Working cows, outrides, Country music, campfires, surfing, fishing, red wine and camping taken to a next level. Everything is huge, cars, tree’s, animals (spiders too. )

I meet amazing people, who are all horse minded. If im not working, im taking trips to Kalbarri or Perth.

Gidgegannup

I also meet Michelle who breeds gorgeous warmbloods in the hills of perth. I fall in love with her property and the way she keeps her high level and overly talented dressage horses. Outside all day in the shades of tree’s and with all their horses growing up in the hills. And I start working for Penny Hill Park if I am not working at Maike & Andrew’s.

I thank Andrew and Maike for letting me live in their family for 6 months, for the opportunities, red wine, roast and setup for this website, and most of all for bringing me clarity on my journey. Char for her laughs and support. Rachel & Lily for inviting me in the family as “auntie” from lily and trusting me with Ingrid. Simone for being the special person you are, I hope to see you you all soon.

Empire PRE

When I start teaching private around a little bit more, I meet Rosemary and her gorgeous Spanish Stallion Hanna Poderoso at the first clinic with Rodrigo Matos. We connect very well and now every 6-8 weeks I have the honour to work with her and her Andalusians. She has a dreamy property close to Albany. A rough 6/7 hours’ drive from perth. She breeds Andalusians, sells and trains them together with her husband. They have cattle and a beautiful family. The place just has it all… endless views, Spanish horses, cows, hills in the background and the ocean close.
